After 15 years of design and development Perl 6 had a production-ready release on Christmas Day 2015. Now is the perfect time for your team to start learning this hyper-expressive and practical language.
We are offering a one day introductory workshop for your team to get hands on with Perl 6.
We visit your workplace and facilitate a practical, hands on workshop over one day.
Participants write small utility programs in Perl 6 which they can use to help their work flow. Short presentations are followed by interesting pair programming tasks. Participants learn by coding Perl 6, discussing and exploring.
By the end of the workshop participants will have written practical Perl 6 programs they can put to use in their daily work.
The tasks will touch on: Perl 5 -> Perl 6, sigils, twigils, OO, roles, hashes, arrays, lists, phasers, multi-dispatch, smart matching, IO, regexen, grammars, operators, meta-operators and hyperthreading.
The power, expressiveness and practicality of Perl 6 will be apparent to participants. They will start to see opportunities to solve some of their current problems with Perl 6 and ways to further their learning.
An open mind, curiosity about Perl 6, and be ready to have fun. Each programming pair need at least one Internet connected laptop with terminal access.
£ 250 per participant (inc VAT) with a minimum of six participants.
